P0010 indicates that there is a problem with the intake camshaft actuator which alters the timing of the valves based on the engine speed and certain factors. It does so by regulating the oil pressure. The DTC is triggered when an electrical fault (e.g. a low voltage) is detected in the actuator circuit or variable valve timing (VVT) system. The engine control module monitors this circuit continuously.
The top causes of this DTCIn short, it means that the control module has detected a fault in the intake camshaft actuator’s circuit.
This DTC normally appears due to an open or short circuit, contaminated oil or sludge buildups, corrosion, or mechanical wear. The VVT system will also be affected if the CMP or CKP sensors are not working properly.
It is still possible to drive the car while it is in this condition, although we strongly advise that you get it repaired as soon as possible. The vehicle will use more fuel and, at the same time, its power output will be reduced. Moreover, it could fail an emissions test.
You can clear the error using the scanner and take the vehicle for a test drive. If the check engine light comes back on or it reappears, you will need to address the fault. After fixing the vehicle, you can permanently erase it from the computer’s memory archive.
Fault code P0010 - Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1) can occur with any car but is most often found on the following cars:
If you get the code P0010 on your car, make sure that the diagnostics are carried out correctly and the error is still relevant. Check for symptoms associated with the problem and explore options for resolving it.
