Replacement: rear upper arm – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left upper control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: rear upper arm – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Touran 1T1 1T2
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Make a mark on the camber adjustment bolt.
- Step 8Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 10Clean the exhaust system fastener. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Remove the exhaust system fastener. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 13Remove the support from under the arm.Replacement: rear upper arm – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. AUTODOC recommends:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 14Take out the spring.
- Step 15Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #21. Use a combination spanner #21.
- Step 17Remove the mounting bracket of the ABS sensor wiring from the upper arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 18Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Make a mark on the camber adjustment bolt.
- Step 20Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #18.
- Step 21Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 22Remove the fastening bolt. Use a drive socket #21.
- Step 23Remove the rear upper arm.
- Step 24Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 25Mount the rear upper arm.Replacement: rear upper arm – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. Professionals recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 26Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 27Screw in the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear subframe. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #18.
- Step 28Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 29Screw in the fasteners connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #21. Use a combination spanner #21.
- Step 30Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
