Replacement: rear suspension lower control arm – VW TOURAN (1T3). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: rear suspension lower control arm – VW TOURAN (1T3). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW TOURAN (1T3)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Make a mark on the camber adjustment bolt.
- Step 8Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Remove the support from under the arm.Replacement: rear suspension lower control arm – VW TOURAN (1T3). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 12Take out the spring.
- Step 13Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 15Remove the arm.
- Step 16Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Install a new arm.Replacement: rear suspension lower control arm – VW TOURAN (1T3). Tip:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 18Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 19Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats. Use a crowbar.
- Step 20Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
