Replace the stabiliser links on VW Touran 1T1 1T2 in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the stabiliser link to the stabiliser bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the stabilizer rod. Use a crowbar.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed.
Step 10
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Install a new rod, tighten the fasteners. Use a crowbar.
Step 12
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 45 Nm torque.
Step 13
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar with the control arm. Use a combination spanner #16. Use XZN #6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 45 Nm torque.
Step 14
Treat all joints of the stabiliser link. Use copper grease.
Step 15
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 16
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Touran 1T1 1T2. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 17
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. VW Touran 1T1 1T2
Step 18
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 19
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 20
Remove the jacks and chocks.
