How to change rear shock absorber on PEUGEOT 206 1 (2D) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Shock Absorber for 206 CC (2D) and other PEUGEOT models
Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 206 CC 2D. Professionals recommend:
Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 206 CC 2D. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Peugeot 206 CC 2D
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 9
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 206 CC 2D. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
Step 10
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 11
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 12
Remove the shock absorber.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 206 CC 2D. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 13
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. Peugeot 206 CC 2D
Step 14
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 15
Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16
Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 17
Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 18
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.
Step 19
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 150 Nm torque.
Step 20
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 206 CC 2D. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 21
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 22
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 23
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
