Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. List of the tools you'll need:

                        Wire brush
                      
                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Drive socket # 18 
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #19
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. AUTODOC experts recommend:

Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – Renault Clio 2 – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Renault Clio 2
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 8

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.
Step 9

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 10

Detach the lower part of the shock absorber.
Step 11

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 12

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 13

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.

Step 14

Remove the fastening bolt.

Step 15

Detach the lower part of the shock absorber.

Step 16

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 17

Take out the spring.
Step 18

Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19

Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
Step 20

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 21

Attach the lower part of the shock absorber.
Step 22

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 23

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 24

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 25

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

Step 26

Attach the lower part of the shock absorber.

Step 27

Install the fastening bolt.

Step 28

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.

Step 29

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – Renault Clio 2. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 30

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 31

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.

Step 32

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Renault Clio 2
Step 33

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 34

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 nm torque.
Step 35

Remove the jacks and chocks.
