Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). AUTODOC recommends:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 7Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 9Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolt.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
- Step 11Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
- Step 12Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 13Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolt.Step 15Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.Step 16Remove the spring.AUTODOC recommends:Inspect the rubber mounts of the suspension spring. Replace if necessary.
- Step 17Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
- Step 19Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 20Install the fastening bolt.Step 21Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
