Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. AUTODOC recommends:

The replacement procedure is identical for both brake pad wear sensors on the same axle.
All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.

Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 3

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 4

Loosen the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 5

Raise the vehicle.

Warning!
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 6

Unscrew the wheel nuts.

Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. AUTODOC experts recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
Step 7

Remove the wheel.
Step 8

Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever.
Step 9

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10

Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 15 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 12

Remove the brake caliper.

Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. Tip:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system.
Step 13

Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor. Use long nose pliers.

Step 14

Detach the brake pad wear sensor connector.

Step 15

Clean the brake caliper pistons. Use a nylon brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 16

Retract the brake caliper pistons. Use a brake caliper wind back tool.
Step 17

Treat the brake pad wear sensor connector. Use an electronic spray.
Step 18

Attach the connector of the new brake pad wear sensor.
Step 19

Attach the new wear sensor to the inner pad.
Step 20

Install the brake caliper.
Step 21

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 22

Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 15 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 60 N·m.
Step 23

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 24

Treat the wheel hub surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 25

Install the wheel.

Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing on the fastening nuts.
Step 26

Screw on the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 27

Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts in a criss-cross pattern. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 200 N·m.
Step 28

Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.
Step 29

Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.
Step 30

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 31

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 32

Close the bonnet.
