Replacement: ignition coil – VW JETTA III (1K2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – VW JETTA III (1K2).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the engine cover at the left.
- Step 4Remove the engine cover.
- Step 5Cover the throttle body with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
- Step 6Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the oil filler neck.
- Step 7Unscrew the oil filler neck. Remove the oil filler neck.
- Step 8Cover the oil filler opening with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
- Step 9Undo the plastic locking tabs of the ignition coil connector. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 10Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 11Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.Replacement: ignition coil – VW JETTA III (1K2). AUTODOC recommends:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting.
- Step 12Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
- Step 13Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
- Step 14Treat the ignition coil tip. Use high-temperature grease. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 15Plug in the ignition coil connector.
- Step 16Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
