Replacement: fuel filter – VW Passat B5 Variant. Professionals recommend:
- Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – VW Passat B5 Variant
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Open the bonnet. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Remove the engine cover caps. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 4
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use a drive socket #10. - Step 5
Remove the engine cover.Replacement: fuel filter – VW Passat B5 Variant. Tip:Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously. - Step 6
Clean the fuel filter. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the fasteners of the fuel filter housing cover. Use HEX No.H13. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Detach the fuel pressure sensor connector. - Step 9Unscrew the fuel filter cover.Step 10
Loosen the fuel filter mounting. Use a Phillips screwdriver. - Step 11
Remove the fuel filter. Put the old filter cartridge in the container. - Step 12
Install a new fuel filter.Replacement: fuel filter – VW Passat B5 Variant. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Take care to only use quality filters. - Step 13
Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
