Replacement: fuel filter – VOLVO XC90 I. AUTODOC recommends:
Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: fuel filter – VOLVO XC90 I. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Open the fuel door.
Step 2
Unscrew the fuel filler cap.
Step 3
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 4
Prepare a container for fluids.
Step 5
Clean the fasteners of the fuel supply lines. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 6
Clean the fuel filter bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the cap of the pressure control valve.
Step 8
Press on the pressure control valve. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 9
Squeeze the clips and detach the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter housing. Use fuel line pliers. Use a crowbar.

Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 10
Unscrew the fuel filter bracket fixing bolts. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11
Remove the fuel filter together with its bracket.

Remove the fuel filter.
Step 13
Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
Step 14
Install a new fuel filter.
Step 15
Install the new fuel filter together with its bracket.
Step 16
Screw the fixing bolts of the fuel filter bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.

Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Take care to only use quality filters.
Step 17
Connect the fuel lines to the fuel filter and lock the fastening clips.
Step 18
Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a drive socket #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 19
Screw on the cap of the pressure control valve.
Step 20
Take the fluid container away from under the fuel filter.
Step 21
Lower the car.
Step 22
Tighten the fuel filler cap.
Step 23
Close the fuel door.

Before starting off, switch the ignition on and off several times. This should be done to activate the fuel pump to make it pump fuel through the fuel system.
Step 24
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 25
Shut off the engine.
