Replacement: fuel filter – Fiat Punto 188. List of the tools you'll need:

                        Flat screwdriver
                      
                        Fluid container
                      
                        Fender cover

Replacement: fuel filter – Fiat Punto 188. Tip from AUTODOC:

Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
Please note: all work on the car – Fiat Punto 188 – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Open the hood.
Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3

Disconnect the fuel sensor wiring from the fuel filter. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 4

Unscrew the fuel filter cover.
Step 5

Prepare a container for fluids.

Step 6

Remove the fuel filter.
Step 7

Put the old filter cartridge in the container.

Replacement: fuel filter – Fiat Punto 188. Tip:

Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.

Step 8

Remove the old sealing ring.Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 9

Install the new sealing ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 10

Install a new fuel filter.

Replacement: fuel filter – Fiat Punto 188. AUTODOC recommends:

Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Take care to only use quality filters.
Step 11

Install and tighten the cap of the fuel filter housing.
Step 12

Connect the fuel sensor wiring to the fuel filter.

Replacement: fuel filter – Fiat Punto 188. AUTODOC experts recommend:

Before starting off, switch the ignition on and off several times. This should be done to activate the fuel pump to make it pump fuel through the fuel system.
Step 13

Run the engine for a few minutes.This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 14

Shut off the engine.

Step 15

Remove the fender protection cover.

Step 16

Close the hood.
