Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: fuel filter – AUDI ALLROAD (4BH, C5). Take the following steps:
Step 1
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 2
Unscrew the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a combination spanner #22.
Step 3
Prepare a container for fluids.
Step 4
Disconnect the pipe from the fuel filter.
Replacement: fuel filter – AUDI ALLROAD (4BH, C5). Tip:
Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 5
Unscrew the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a combination spanner #22.
Step 6
Disconnect the pipe from the fuel filter.
Step 7
Clean the fuel filter bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the fuel filter bracket fixing bolts. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the fuel filter together with its bracket.
Step 10
Remove the fuel filter.
Step 11
Install a new fuel filter.

Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.AUDI ALLROAD (4BH, C5) – It's important to only use high-quality filters.
Step 12
Install the new fuel filter together with its bracket.
Step 13
Screw the fixing bolts of the fuel filter bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Attach the pipe to the fuel filter.
Step 15
Screw the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a combination spanner #22.
Step 16
Attach the pipe to the fuel filter.
Step 17
Screw the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a combination spanner #22.
Step 18
Take the fluid container away from under the fuel filter.
Step 19
Lower the car.
Replacement: fuel filter – AUDI ALLROAD (4BH, C5). Tip from AUTODOC:
Before starting off, switch the ignition on and off several times. This should be done to activate the fuel pump to make it pump fuel through the fuel system.
Step 20
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 21
Shut off the engine.
