Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT MULTIPLA (186). AUTODOC recommends:

Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your FIAT MULTIPLA (186) car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT MULTIPLA (186). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.

Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT MULTIPLA (186)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6.1

Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners.

Step 6.2

Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
Step 7

Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.

Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT MULTIPLA (186). Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 8

Disconnect the brake hose holder from the shock absorber strut. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 9

Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Remove the brake disc.
Step 11

Unstake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.

Step 12

Unscrew the wheel hub fastening nut. Use a drive socket #36.
Step 13

Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14

Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
Step 15

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber strut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16

Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 17

Remove the fastening bolts. Use a hammer.

Step 18

Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

Step 19

Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub.

Step 20

Unscrew the ABS sensor fastening from the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 21

Remove the ABS sensor from the steering knuckle.
Step 22

Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.

Step 23

Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
Step 24

Press the wheel hub out from the tapered roller bearing. Use a hammer.

Step 25

Remove the retaining ring from the steering knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 26

Press out the wheel hub bearing.
Step 27

Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle.
Step 28

Install the retaining ring in the steering knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 29

Press the wheel hub into the bearing inner race.

Step 30

Install the steering knuckle with a hub in assembly.
Step 31

Install the fastening bolts.

Step 32

Use a crowbar. Install the drive shaft into the wheel hub.
Step 33

Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 75 Nm torque.
Step 34

Install the ABS sensor on the steering knuckle and secure it. Use a drive socket #10.
Step 35

Screw the hub nut. Use a drive socket #36. Use a tap wrench.
Step 36

Restake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
Step 37

Install the brake disc and secure it. Use a drive socket #12.
Step 38

Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 39.1

Install the brake caliper together with its bracket.

Step 39.2

Tighten the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #12.

Step 39.3

Use a torque wrench. Observe the recommended tightening torque.
Step 40

Connect the brake hose fastener to the shock absorber strut.
Step 41

Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten it. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.
Step 42

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.

Step 43

Install the wheel.

Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT MULTIPLA (186). Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 44

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.

Step 45

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 98 nm torque.

Step 46

Remove the jacks and chocks.
