Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT BRAVO I (182). AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your FIAT BRAVO I (182) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT BRAVO I (182). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT BRAVO I (182)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6.1Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners.Step 6.2Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 7Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT BRAVO I (182). Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 8Disconnect the brake hose holder from the shock absorber strut. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 9Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Remove the brake disc.
- Step 11Unstake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.Step 12Unscrew the wheel hub fastening nut. Use a drive socket #36.
- Step 13Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 15Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber strut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 17Remove the fastening bolts. Use a hammer.Step 18Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.Step 19Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub.Step 20Unscrew the ABS sensor fastening from the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 21Remove the ABS sensor from the steering knuckle.
- Step 22Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.Step 23Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
- Step 24Press the wheel hub out from the tapered roller bearing. Use a hammer.Step 25Remove the retaining ring from the steering knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 26Press out the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 27Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle.
- Step 28Install the retaining ring in the steering knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver.
