How to change strut mount on FORD FIESTA V Van [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: strut mount – Ford Fiesta V JH JD. AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
- All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – Ford Fiesta V JH JD. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: strut mount – Ford Fiesta V JH JD. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #15. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the stabilizer rod.
- Step 9Take out the retainer clip and move the brake hose out of the bracket on the shock strut. Use a flat screwdriver. Use pliers.
- Step 10Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolt. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. Use a hammer.
- Step 13Lower the car. Open the bonnet.
- Step 14Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 15Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #13.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Fiesta V JH JD
- Step 17Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 18Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: strut mount – Ford Fiesta V JH JD. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 19Compress the spring.
- Step 20Remove the shock strut mount cap.
- Step 21Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Remove the top mount of the shock absorber strut together with the mount bearing. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 24Remove the top strut mount.
- Step 25Install a new shock absorber strut mount into the mount bearing.
- Step 26Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing. Use a crowbar.
- Step 27Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.Replacement: strut mount – Ford Fiesta V JH JD. Tip from AUTODOC:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
- Step 28Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
- Step 29Install the shock strut mount cap.
- Step 30Decompress the spring.Step 31Remove the assembled shock strut.
- Step 32Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
