- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – TOYOTA COROLLA Saloon (E15_). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 4
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21. - Step 5Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 6
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. TOYOTA COROLLA Saloon (E15_) - Step 7
Remove the wheel. - Step 8
Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 9
Remove the oil pan cover. - Step 10
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – TOYOTA COROLLA Saloon (E15_). AUTODOC recommends:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles. - Step 11
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #17. - Step 12Lower the car.Step 13
Unscrew the fasteners of the coolant reservoir. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 14
Unscrew the upper fastener of the engine mount. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 15Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 16
Support the engine in the oil pan area.Replacement: front lower arm – TOYOTA COROLLA Saloon (E15_). Tip:Make sure that the engine is supported. - Step 17
Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 18
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a tap wrench. - Step 19
Remove the front fastener of the control arm. - Step 20Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 21
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #22. Use a drive socket #22. Use a tap wrench. - Step 22
Remove the rear fastener of the control arm. - Step 23
Remove the arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 24
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 25
Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – TOYOTA COROLLA Saloon (E15_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 26
Install the front fastener of the arm. - Step 27
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 28
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 29
Install the rear fastener of the arm.
