Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). AUTODOC recommends:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Tip:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.
Step 7

Unscrew the subframe reinforcement bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8

Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 9

Unscrew the subframe fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Detach the front subframe crossmember.
Step 11

Remove the support from under the subframe.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 12

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

Step 13

Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
Step 14

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 15

Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 16

Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
Step 17

Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a tap wrench.

Step 18

Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a crowbar.

Step 19

Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 20

Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
Step 21

Remove the arm.
Step 22

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 23

Install a new arm.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 24

Install the front fastener of the arm.
Step 25

Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
Step 26

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 27

Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 28

Install the rear fastener of the control arm.

Step 29

Screw the rear arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 30

Screw the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 31

Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 32

Attach the front subframe crossmember.

Step 33

Screw in the subframe fasteners. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 34

Remove the support from under the subframe.

AUTODOC recommends:
RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 35

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 36

Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.
Step 37

Tighten the rear fastener connecting the arm to the body subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 38

Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.
Step 39

Remove the support from under the arm.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 40

Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 41

Unscrew the subframe fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 42

Screw in the subframe reinforcement bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 43

Tighten the subframe fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 44

Tighten the subframe reinforcement bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 45

Remove the support from under the subframe.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Professionals recommend:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 46

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 47

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 48

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 49

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_)
Step 50

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 51

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 nm torque.

Step 52

Remove the jacks and chocks.
