How to change front springs on NISSAN MICRA K12 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Micra K12. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both coil springs of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the front suspension.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Nissan Micra K12.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Unscrew the fasteners of the cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 4Raise the wiper plastic cowl grille.
- Step 5Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 6Loosen the upper fasteners of the suspension strut. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Don't unscrew it completely.
- Step 7Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 8Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Raise the car.Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Micra K12. AUTODOC recommends:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
- Step 10Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Nissan Micra K12
- Step 11Remove the wheel.
- Step 12Clean the fastener that connects the sway bar link to the suspension strut. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 14Clean the fastener that connects the brake hose bracket to the suspension strut. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 15Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Disconnect the sway bar link from the suspension strut.
- Step 17Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring.
- Step 18Remove the fastener attaching the brake hose to the shock strut. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Detach the brake hose from the shock strut.
- Step 20Unscrew the fasteners connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 21Support the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 22Remove the fastening bolts.Step 23Disconnect the steering knuckle from the suspension strut.
- Step 24Unscrew the upper fasteners of the shock strut.AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injuries, hold the shock strut when undoing the fastening bolts.
- Step 25Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 26Set the suspension strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Micra K12. Professionals recommend:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 27Compress the spring.
- Step 28Clean the strut piston rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 29Unscrew the strut piston rod nut. Use a 18-mm strut nut socket. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 30Remove the top strut mount.
- Step 31Decompress the spring.
- Step 32Remove the spring.
- Step 33Remove the shock absorber dust boot and bump stop.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Micra K12. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.
- Step 34Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 35Install the dust boot and bump stop on the shock absorber.
- Step 36Install the spring on the shock absorber.
- Step 37Compress the spring.
- Step 38Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing.
