Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Tip from AUTODOC experts:

Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 7

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 9

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 10

Remove the support from under the rear arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Nissan Qashqai J10 – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 11

Unscrew the stabilizer rod fasteners. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12

Install the coil spring compressor on the coil spring.

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Tip from AUTODOC:
Use adapters and jaws of the appropriate size. The sping coils should be securely fixed with the coil spring compressor. Use high quality coil spring compressors.
Step 13

Compress the spring by turning the lead screw of the coil spring compressor. Use a ratchet wrench.

AUTODOC recommends:
Compress the coil spring compressor until there is enough room to remove the spring. Do not compress the tool to the full: the spring coils must not touch each other. Be careful. The compressed spring is powerful and in case of disrupting ties, straightening, it can cause injury.
Step 14

Take out the stabiliser link fastener.
Step 15

Pull down the suspension control arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 16

Remove the coil spring together with the coil spring compressor.

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
While the spring is compressed, do not do any operations on it.
Step 17

Secure the coil spring compressor on a work bench.
Step 18

Decompress the spring.
Step 19

Take out the spring.

Step 20

Clean the coil spring mounting seats.

Step 21

Inspect the rubber mounts of the suspension spring. Replace if necessary.

Step 22

Install a new coil spring on the coil spring compressor.

AUTODOC recommends:
Use adapters and jaws of the appropriate size.
Step 23

Compress the spring.
Step 24

Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
Step 25

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 26

Tighten the stabiliser link fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 27

Release the coil spring by turning the lead screw of the coil spring compressor. Use a ratchet wrench.

Replacement: coil springs – Nissan Qashqai J10. Professionals recommend:
Make sure that the coil spring is correctly positioned in its mounting seats.
Step 28

Remove the coil spring compressor.

Step 29

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 30

Remove the support from under the rear arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 31

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 32

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Nissan Qashqai J10
Step 33

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
Step 34

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 112 Nm torque.
Step 35

Remove the jacks and chocks.
