Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – Mercedes W201. AUTODOC recommends:
Both stabilizer bushes should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left stabilizer bushes.
Please note: all work on the car – Mercedes W201 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
Step 3
Raise the car.
Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – Mercedes W201. Tip:
If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheels.
Step 6
Clean the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 9
Remove the stabilizer bush brackets.
Step 10
Remove the anti-roll bar.
Step 11
Clean the fasteners of the anti-roll bar brackets. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12
Unscrew the fasteners of the anti-roll bar brackets. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 14
Remove the anti-roll bar brackets.
Step 15
Clean the mounting seats of the stabilizer bushes. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 16
Clean the anti-roll bar bushing brackets and bracket plates. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 17
Remove the stabilizer bushes.
Step 18
Clean the mounting seats of the stabilizer bushes. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 19
Install the new stabilizer bushes.
Step 20
Fit the anti-roll bar brackets.
Step 21
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 22
Tighten the fasteners of the anti-roll bar brackets. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 23
Install the anti-roll bar.
Step 24
Install the stabilizer bush brackets. Use water pump pliers.
Step 25
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 26
Tighten the fasteners on the anti-roll bar bush brackets. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 Nm torque.
Step 27
Clean the wheel rims mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 28
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 29
Install the wheels.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Mercedes W201
Step 30
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 31
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 32
Remove the jacks and chocks.
