How to change oil filter and engine oil on VW PASSAT B6 (3C5) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: engine oil and filter – Passat 3C5. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW Passat Variant B6. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Remove the engine cover.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Passat B6 3C Variant. AUTODOC recommends:Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously.
- Step 4Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 5Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.AUTODOC recommends:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.All work should be done with the engine stopped.
- Step 6Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 7Unscrew the drain plug. Use a combination spanner #19.
- Step 8Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW Passat Variant B6. Tip from AUTODOC:Caution! The oil may be hot.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 9Unscrew the vacuum system bracket. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Move the vacuum system components aside.
- Step 11Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use a drive socket #32. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 14Remove the oil filter.
- Step 15Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
- Step 16Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.
- Step 17Remove the oil filter cover O-ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 18Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 19Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
- Step 20Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 28 Nm torque.
- Step 21Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 22Lower the car.
- Step 23Install a new O-ring to its mounting seat on the filter cover.
