Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). AUTODOC experts recommend:

Replace the brake drums on FIAT BRAVA (182) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – FIAT BRAVA (182).

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap. Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 3

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.

Step 4

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 5

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT BRAVA (182)
Step 6

Remove the wheel.
Step 7

Fully lower the parking brake lever.

Step 8

Unscrew the brake drum fastening.
Step 9

Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Remove the brake drum.
Step 11

Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a flat screwdriver. Use a hammer.

Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). AUTODOC recommends:
Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps.
Step 12

Clean the hub. Use a wire brush.

Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). Professionals recommend:
Examine the brake shoes. Replace them if needed.
Step 13

Install the brake drum and fasten it.
Step 14

Tigten the brake drum fasteners. Use a drive socket #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 Nm torque.
Step 15

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.

Step 16

Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use copper grease.
Step 17

Install the wheel.

Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 18

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 19

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 98 nm torque.

Step 20

Remove the jacks and chocks.

Important! Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 21

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.

Replacement: brake drum – FIAT BRAVA (182). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Adjust the gap between the brake shoes and the drum on FIAT BRAVA (182), pressing the brake pedal 10-15 times.
