Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A4 B6 Avant. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Remove the engine cover caps. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 4Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use a drive socket #10.
- Step 5Remove the engine cover.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A4 B6 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC:Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously.
- Step 6Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 7Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 8Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A4 B6 Avant. Professionals recommend:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter. Cover the oil filter housing with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
- Step 10Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 11Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A4 B6 Avant. Tip:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.All work should be done with the engine stopped.
- Step 12Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a drive socket #10.
- Step 13Remove the oil pan cover.
- Step 14Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 15Put a waste oil container with at least 4 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 16Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 17Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A4 B6 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 18Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.
- Step 19Remove old o-rings from the oil filter cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 20Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 21Install new O-rings (2 pieces) and a new oil filter to their mounting seats on the filter cover.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 22Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
- Step 23Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
- Step 24Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 25Reinstall the oil pan lower cover.
