- All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: brake caliper bracket – FORD TRANSIT Bus. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 4Loosen the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
- Step 5Raise the vehicle.Replacement: brake caliper bracket – FORD TRANSIT Bus. Tip:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 6Unscrew the wheel nuts.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever.
- Step 10Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 13 mm combination spanner.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake caliper bracket – FORD TRANSIT Bus. AUTODOC recommends:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system.
- Step 13Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor. Use long nose pliers.
- Step 14Remove the brake pads.
- Step 15Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use an 15 mm combination spanner.
- Step 17Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 18Remove the brake caliper bracket.
- Step 19Clean the mounting seat of the brake caliper bracket. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
- Step 20Treat the brake caliper piston. Use a nylon brush. Use a brake cleaner.
- Step 21Retract the brake caliper piston. Use a brake caliper wind back tool.
- Step 22Install a new brake caliper bracket.
- Step 23Install and screw in the fastening bolts.
