Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Replace the oil filter every time you change the engine oil.
Before getting down to work, warm up the engine to reduce the viscosity of the oil.
Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Ford Transit Mk7 van.
Carry out the replacement steps as follows:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to avoid damaging the paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the oil filler cap.
Step 4
Pull up the oil dipstick.
Step 5
Raise the car using a car lift or place it over an inspection pit.
Warning!
The vehicle must be level, but if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.
Step 6
Put an oil drain pan with a capacity of at least 7 litres under the drain hole.
Step 7
Clean the area of the oil pan drain hole. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the drain plug. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Drain the used oil.
Caution!
The oil may be hot.Wait until the oil has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
Step 10
Clean the oil filter cap. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 11
Unscrew the filter cap together with the old filter element. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Caution!
The oil may be hot.
Step 12
Remove the filter element from the filter cap. Remove the old O-ring of the oil filter cap. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 13
Remove the O-ring from the drain plug. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 14
Clean the oil filter cap. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 15
Clean the drain plug. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 16
Install a new O-ring on the drain plug.
Step 17
Install a new O-ring on the oil filter cap.
Step 18
Lubricate the new O-ring with a small amount of fresh oil.
Step 19
Install a new filter element into the oil filter cap.
Step 20
Clean the oil filter mounting seat. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 21
Install the oil filter cap and screw it in. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 20 N·m.
Step 22
Clean the area of the oil pan drain hole. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 23
Screw in the drain plug and tighten it. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 23 N·m.
Step 24
Lower the car back to the ground.
Step 25
Remove the oil filler cap.
Step 26
Insert the funnel.
Step 27
Pour oil into the engine through the filler. Required amount of oil: 6.14 L.
Important!
Use the oil recommended by the manufacturer.
Step 28
Check the oil level using the dipstick.

The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.Top up oil if necessary.
Step 29
Remove the funnel and screw in the oil filler cap.
Step 30
Run the engine for a few minutes.

The oil pressure warning light, which indicates insufficient pressure in the lubrication system, may be on for a longer time than usual. After a few seconds, the oil will fill all the passages, and the light will go out.
Step 31
Check the oil level with a dipstick in 5 minutes after turning the engine off and add oil if necessary.
Warning!
The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.
Step 32
Make sure that the oil filler cap is properly tightened. Check the threaded plug of the drain hole and the oil filter seal for tightness. If necessary, tighten them up carefully.
Step 33
Remove the fender cover.
Step 34
Close the bonnet.

To protect the environment from pollution, be sure to dispose of the used filters and oil at special collection points.
