Replacement: engine thermostat – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- All the work should be carried out with the engine cooled down and ignition switched off.
Replacement: engine thermostat – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to avoid damaging the paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
- Step 4Lift the vehicle using a vehicle lift or place it over an inspection pit.Step 5Prepare a fluid drain pan.
- Step 6Unscrew the coolant drain plug. Use a slotted screwdriver.
- Step 7Drain the coolant.Replacement: engine thermostat – FORD TRANSIT TOURNEO. AUTODOC recommends:Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
- Step 8Screw in the coolant drain plug. Use a slotted screwdriver.
- Step 9Loosen the coolant hose clamp. Use hose clamp pliers.
- Step 10Detach the coolant hose and plug it with a paper towel.
- Step 11Clean the fasteners of the thermostat housing cover. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the fasteners of the thermostat housing cover. Use a T25 Torx bit. Use a U-joint socket extension. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 14Remove the thermostat housing cover.
- Step 15Remove the thermostat.
- Step 16Clean the mounting seat of the thermostat housing cover. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 17Install a new thermostat.
