Replacement: tailgate struts – Fiat Punto 188. Tools you need:
Flat Screwdriver
Hydraulic transmission jack
Replacement: tailgate struts – Fiat Punto 188. AUTODOC experts recommend:
  • Right and left gas struts of the boot lid should be replaced simultaneously.
  • The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left gas struts of the boot lid.
  • Please note: all work on the car – Fiat Punto 188 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
  1. Step 1

    Detach the rear parcel shelf straps.

    Support the boot lid. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

    Release the circlip connecting the gas strut to the boot lid. Use a flat screwdriver.
  4. Step 5
    Changing Tailgate Struts on FIAT PUNTO (188) 1.9 JTD 80 2002 by yourself
    Release the circlip connecting the gas strut to the car body. Use a flat screwdriver.
    Replacement: tailgate struts – Fiat Punto 188. Tip from AUTODOC:
    To avoid any injuries, be sure to hold the boot lid while demounting the gas struts.
  5. Step 6
