Replacement: spark plugs – FORD KA (RB_). Tip from AUTODOC:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – FORD KA (RB_). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing.
- Step 4Detach the air intake hose clamp. Use clic-R collar pliers.
- Step 5Remove the air intake pipe.
- Step 6Unscrew the filter housing fastening bolts. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the engine cover at the left.Step 8Remove the air filter housing.Please note!The air filter housing is integrated into the engine cover.
- Step 9Cover the air intake hose with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
- Step 10Remove the spark plug wire connectors from the spark plug wells. Use round-nose pliers.Replacement: spark plugs – FORD KA (RB_). Professionals recommend:Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.Remember the sequence of the spark plug wires connectors.
- Step 11Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
- Step 12Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Take out the spark plugs.
- Step 14Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
- Step 15Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
- Step 16Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – FORD KA (RB_). AUTODOC recommends:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
