Replacement: spark plugs – Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Undo the engine cover screws (4 pieces). Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 4Remove the engine cover.
- Step 5Detach the connector from the ignition coil. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 6Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
- Step 8Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells. Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 9Take out the spark plugs.
- Step 10Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
- Step 11Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 22 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon. AUTODOC recommends:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
- Step 12Treat the mounting seats of the spark plugs on the ignition coil. Use high-temperature grease.
