Replacement: wheel bearing – VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1). AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 4Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 5Raise the car.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1). AUTODOC experts recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 6Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1)
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 11Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW NEW BEETLE (9C1, 1C1). Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 12Remove the brake pads.
- Step 13Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use HEX No.H8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 16Remove the brake caliper bracket.
- Step 17Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the brake disc fasteners. Use an impact screwdriver. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 20Remove the brake disc.
- Step 21Remove the hub bearing cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 22Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 23Unscrew the wheel hub fastener. Use 12-point socket No.30. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 24Remove the fastening nut.
- Step 25Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are made as an assembly. Use 3-Arm Gear Puller.
- Step 26Remove the inner bearing ring from the stub axle. Use 3-Arm Gear Puller.
- Step 27Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 28Clean the ABS sensor. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 29Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a hammer.
- Step 30Install the fastening nut.
- Step 31Tighten the hub fastener. Use 12-point socket No.30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 175 Nm torque.
- Step 32Install the hub bearing cap. Use a rubber mallet.
