Replacement: wheel bearing – Mazda 3 BK. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Mazda 3 BK car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – Mazda 3 BK – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Mazda 3 BK
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Detach the brake caliper retaining spring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 7Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 8Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 9Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.Step 11Remove the brake caliper.AUTODOC recommends:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 12Remove the brake pads.
- Step 13Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 14Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
- Step 16Remove the caliper bracket.Step 17Remove the brake disc.
- Step 18Clean the fasteners of the wheel hub bearing. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 19.1Unscrew the hub bearing mounting.Step 19.2Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the fastening bolts.Step 21Remove the hub bearing together with the brake disc protection plate. Use a rubber mallet.Step 22Detach the ABS sensor connector. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 23Remove the brake disc cover.Step 24Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use a drive socket #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 25Disconnect the ABS sensor.
- Step 26Connect the ABS sensor.
- Step 27Screw in the ABS sensor fastener. Use a drive socket #6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 5 nm torque.
- Step 28Clean the fasteners of the wheel hub bearing. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 29Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 30Treat the fasteners of the wheel hub bearing. Use a sealant.
- Step 31Install the brake disc cover.
