How to change rear shock absorber on RENAULT SCENIC 2 (JM) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Shock Absorber for SCÉNIC II (JM0/1_) and other RENAULT models
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. Take the following steps:
Step 1
Open the boot lid.
Step 2
Raise the lower lining of the boot.
Step 3
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 5
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 6
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 7
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 8
Remove the wheel.
Step 9
Unscrew the fastener of the rear axle plastic protecting cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 12
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Renault Scenic 2
Step 13
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a drive socket #16.
Step 14
Remove the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.
Step 15
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. Professionals recommend:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 16
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it.
Step 17
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 18
Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 19
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 20
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 62 Nm torque.
Step 21
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 22
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 23
Screw in the fasteners of the rear axle plastic protecting cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 24
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 25
Install the wheel.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Scenic 2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 26
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 27
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 28
Remove the jacks and chocks.
Step 29
Put down the lower lining of the boot.
Step 30
Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
