Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Open the boot lid.

Step 4

Detach the boot side lining.
Step 5

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 6

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a shock absorber socket DD№6 Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 8

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 9

Remove the wheel.
Step 10

Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
Step 11

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 13

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.

Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Tip:
To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
Step 14

Remove the shock absorber.

Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 15

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_)
Step 17

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 19

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 20

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 21

Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 22

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 23

Connect the ABS sensor wiring.

Step 24

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 25

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 26

Install the wheel.

Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MODUS / GRAND MODUS (F/JP0_). Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 27

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 28

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.

Step 29

Remove the jacks and chocks.
Step 30

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a shock absorber socket DD№6 Use a combination spanner #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 21 Nm torque.
Step 31

Attach the side lining of the boot.

Step 32

Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
