Replacement: shock absorbers – PEUGEOT 208 Box. AUTODOC recommends:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – PEUGEOT 208 Box – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. PEUGEOT 208 Box - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Remove the plastic clips of the wheel arch liner. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 7
Remove the wheel arch cover. - Step 8
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 9
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 12
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 13
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 14
Remove the fastening bolt.Replacement: shock absorbers – PEUGEOT 208 Box. Tip from AUTODOC experts:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts. - Step 15
Remove the shock absorber. - Step 16
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.AUTODOC recommends:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 17
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it. - Step 18Install the fastening bolt.Step 19
Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:PEUGEOT 208 Box – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. - Step 20
Install the fastening bolt.
