To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
Step 18
Remove the shock absorber.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Mercedes W169. Tip from AUTODOC:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 19
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. Mercedes W169
Step 20
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 Nm torque.
Step 21
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 22
Install the protective shock absorber mounting cap.
Step 23
Attach the side lining of the boot.
Step 24
Install the boot side sound insulation and screw in its fasteners.
Step 25
Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
Step 26
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 27
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 28
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 29
Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 30
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.
Step 31
Remove the support from under the arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Mercedes W169 – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 32
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 33
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 34
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
