How to change rear shock absorber on HONDA CIVIC 8 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Shock Absorber for CIVIC VIII Hatchback (FN, FK) and other HONDA models
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it 3–5 times by hand.
Step 22
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 23
Support the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
AUTODOC recommends:
For tightening the fasteners correctly, you have to jack up the suspension components to their working position.
Step 24
Install the elements of the shock absorber upper mount.
Step 25
Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 26
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 54 Nm torque.
Step 27
Remove the support from under the rear axle beam.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – Honda Civic 8. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 28
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 29
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 30
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 31
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Honda Civic 8
Step 32
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 33
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 108 Nm torque.
Step 34
Remove the jacks and chocks.
Step 35
Tighten the top fastener of the shock absorber. Use a special drive socket to remove the shock absorber # 16. Use a shock absorber socket #DD6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 Nm torque.
Step 36
Install the mount cap on the shock absorber upper fastener.
Step 37
Close the luggage compartment.
