Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA V Van
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 7Move the part aside.
- Step 8Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 10Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. AUTODOC recommends:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 14Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 15Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a shock absorber socket #DD6.
- Step 17Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 18Install the mount, boot and bump stop onto a new shock absorber.
- Step 19Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a shock absorber socket #DD6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
- Step 20Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA V Van
