Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Tools you'll need:

                        Wire brush
                      
                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Brake cleaner 
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Combination spanner #13
                      
                        Drive socket # 10 
                      
                        Drive socket # 15 
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #19
                      
                        Ratchet wrench
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Shock absorber socket #DD6
                      
                        Clip removal tool
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Tip from AUTODOC:

Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA V Van
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a clip removal tool.
Step 7

Move the part aside.
Step 8

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 10

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 14

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 15

Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16

Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a shock absorber socket #DD6.
Step 17

Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 18

Install the mount, boot and bump stop onto a new shock absorber.
Step 19

Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a shock absorber socket #DD6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 20

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 21

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA V Van
Step 22

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a drive socket #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 23

Install the wheel arch cover to its mounting seat.
Step 24

Install and tighten the wheel arch cover fasteners.
Step 25

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 26

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 27

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 28

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 115 Nm torque.
Step 29

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

Replacement: shock absorbers – FORD FIESTA V Van. Tip:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 30

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 31

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 32

Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use copper grease.
Step 33

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. FORD FIESTA V Van
Step 34

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 35

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 95 Nm torque.
Step 36

Remove the jacks and chocks.
