Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Lupo 6X1
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Detach the lower part of the shock absorber.
Step 10
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.
AUTODOC recommends:
VW Lupo 6X1 – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 11
Pull down the suspension control arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 12
Take out the spring.
Step 13
Remove the rubber spring spacer.
Step 14
Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Install the rubber spring spacer.
Step 16
Pull down the suspension control arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 17
Install the spring.
Step 18
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 19
Attach the lower part of the shock absorber.
Step 20
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 21
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.
Replacement: coil springs – VW Lupo 6X1. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 22
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 23
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 24
Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use copper grease.
Step 25
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. VW Lupo 6X1
Step 26
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 27
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 nm torque.
Step 28
Remove the jacks and chocks.
