How to change rear springs / rear coil springs on CITROEN C3 1 (FC, FN) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

All the parts you need to replace – Springs for C3 I Hatchback (FC_, FN_) and other CITROËN models

WD-40 spray
Copper grease
Drive socket # 21
Wheel impact socket #17

Wheel chock
Replacement: coil springs – Citroen C3 1. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Citroen C3 1 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Citroen C3 1 - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 7
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #21. - Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 9
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Citroen C3 1. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms. - Step 10
Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar. - Step 11
Take out the spring. - Step 12
Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 13
Pull down the rear suspension beam. Use a crowbar. - Step 14
Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
