Tools
Replacement: brake discs – VW BEETLE (5C1). List of the tools you'll need:
XZN socket bit # 14
Torx bit T30
Torque wrench
Rubber mallet
Copper grease
Wire brush
WD-40 spray
Brake cleaner
Wheel impact socket #17
Crow bar
Wheel chock
Replacement: brake discs – VW BEETLE (5C1). AUTODOC recommends:
  • Replace the brake disks on the car VW BEETLE (5C1) in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
  • The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
  • When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.

    Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
  3. Step 4
    Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

    Unscrew the wheel bolts.
    Replacement: brake discs – VW BEETLE (5C1). AUTODOC experts recommend:
    To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
  4. Step 6
    Changing Brake Discs on VW Beetle Hatchback (5C1, 5C2) 2.0 TDI 2014 by yourself
    Remove the wheel.
  5. Step 7
    Disconnect the ABS sensor electric socket. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor plug. Remove the ABS sensor connector. Remove the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.
    Please note!
    Some cars are not equipped with the brake pad wear sensor.

    Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.

    Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Treat the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use WD-40 spray.

    Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use XZN #14.

    Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.
    Replacement: brake discs – VW BEETLE (5C1). Tip from AUTODOC:
    Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
