How to change rear brake caliper on AUDI A3 2 (8PA) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. AUTODOC experts recommend:
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right brake calipers on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. Take the following steps:
Step 1
Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 2
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 3
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 4
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 5
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 6
Remove the wheel.
Step 7
Clean the parking brake bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Press the parking brake actuator lever on the brake caliper.
Step 9
Release the parking brake cable. Use water pump pliers.
Step 10
Clean the area where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake circuit pipe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Clamp the brake hose off using a brake hose clamp.
Step 12
Put a container for gathering brake fluid beneath.
Step 13
Unscrew the brake pipe from the brake hose. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 14
Loosen the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 15
Remove the brake hose retaining clip. Use a crowbar.
Step 16
Detach the brake pipe from the brake hose.
Step 17
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.
Step 18
Remove the brake caliper.
Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. Professionals recommend:
When replacing the brake caliper, it is recommended to check the brake hose for damages and, if necessary, to replace it with a new one. When replacing a brake caliper it is recommended to replace brake pads, check the state of the brake discs and replace them with new ones if necessary.If no new guide pins were supplied in a kit with the new brake calipers, use the old pins.
Step 19
Unscrew the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper.
Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 20
Detach the brake pipe from the brake caliper.
Step 21
Treat the brake pipe.
Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 22
Reattach the brake pipe to the brake caliper.
Step 23
Screw in the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 24
Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.
Step 25
Treat the brake hose. Treat the brake pipe.
Use a brake cleaner.

Reattach the brake pipe to the brake hose.
Step 27
Screw in the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake hose.
Use a combination spanner #11.

Install the brake hose retaining clip. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 29
Remove the brake hose clamp.
Step 30
Connect the brake bleeder kit to the brake bleeder screw.
Step 31
Undo the brake bleeder screw. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 32
Bleed the brake caliper system. Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.
Step 33
Tighten the brake bleeder screw. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 34
Disconnect the brake bleeder kit.
Step 35
Clean dirt from the brake hose bolt. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 36
Tighten the brake caliper bleed screw. Use a drive socket #11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 9 Nm torque.
Step 37
Install the parking brake cable into the brake caliper bracket. Use water pump pliers.
Step 38
Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 39
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 40
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Install the wheel.

To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 43
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 44
Remove the jacks and chocks.

Important! Replacement: brake caliper – Audi A3 8PA. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 45
Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.
