Replacement: ABS sensor – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ABS sensor – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Audi A4 B5 saloon
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the ABS sensor fastener.
- Step 7Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: ABS sensor – Audi A4 B5 saloon. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 8Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 10Remove the brake pads.
- Step 11Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use HEX No.H8. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 13Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 14Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.
- Step 16Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 17Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #24. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 18Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing. Use a crowbar.
- Step 19Clean the stub axle. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 20Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use WD-40 spray.Step 21Measure and note the distance between the ABS sensor and the brake disc. Use a vernier caliper.
- Step 22Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use pincers.
- Step 23Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 24Remove the rear seats.
- Step 25Detach the ABS sensor connector.
- Step 26Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use pincers.
- Step 27Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: ABS sensor – Audi A4 B5 saloon. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 28Treat the ABS sensor fastener. Use a multipurpose grease. Use a flat screwdriver.Step 29Connect the ABS sensor.Replacement: ABS sensor – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC experts:When installing the ABS sensor, keep the required distance between it and the brake disc.
