How to change ignition coil on VW POLO 6n1 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Ignition Coil for Polo Hatchback (6N1) and other VW models
Replacement: ignition coil – VW Polo 6N1. Tip from AUTODOC:
The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
Please note: all work on the car – VW Polo 6N1 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Remove the ignition coil.
Step 5
Disconnect the high voltage wire.
Replacement: ignition coil – VW Polo 6N1. AUTODOC recommends:
Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.
Step 6
Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
Step 7
Remove the cowl grille seal.
Step 8
Raise up and remove the cowl grille.
Step 9
Install a new ignition coil.
Step 10
Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use a drive socket #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
Step 11
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
Step 12
Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 13
Connect the high voltage wire.
Step 14
Install and secure the cowl grille.
Step 15
Install the cowl grille seal.
Step 16
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 17
Shut off the engine.
Step 18
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 19
Close the hood.
