How to change spark plug on VW POLO 6n1 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Spark Plug for Polo Hatchback (6N1) and other VW models
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Polo 6N1. Tip from AUTODOC:
The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Polo 6N1. Take the following steps:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the air filter housing fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 4
Remove the air filter housing.
Step 5
Cover the throttle body with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
Step 6
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Use long nose pliers.
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Polo 6N1. Tip from AUTODOC:
Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.Remember the position of the spark plug wires.
Step 7
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 8
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Take out the spark plugs.
Step 10
Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 11
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
Step 12
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Polo 6N1. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
Step 13
Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place. Use long nose pliers.

Step 14
Remove the microfibre towel from the throttle body.
Step 15
Install the air filter housing and fasten it. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 16
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 17
Shut off the engine.
Step 18
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 19
Close the hood.
