Replacement: ignition coil – VW GOLF VI Convertible (517). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – VW GOLF VI Convertible (517).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Open the hood. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the engine cover at the left. - Step 4
Remove the engine cover. - Step 5
Cover the throttle body with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system. - Step 6
Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the oil filler neck. - Step 7
Unscrew the oil filler neck. Remove the oil filler neck. - Step 8
Cover the oil filler opening with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system. - Step 9
Undo the plastic locking tabs of the ignition coil connector. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 10
Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 11
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.Replacement: ignition coil – VW GOLF VI Convertible (517). AUTODOC recommends:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting. - Step 12
Detach the connector from the ignition coil. - Step 13
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance. - Step 14
Treat the ignition coil tip. Use high-temperature grease. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 15
Plug in the ignition coil connector. - Step 16
Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
