Replacement: ignition coil – VW CORRADO (53I). List of the tools you'll need:
Electronic spray
Torque wrench
Drive socket # 10
Torx bit T30
Ratchet wrench
Fender cover
Replacement: ignition coil – VW CORRADO (53I). Tip from AUTODOC:
  • The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
  • Please note: all work on the car – VW CORRADO (53I) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
  1. Step 1
    Open the bonnet.
    Step 2
    Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

    Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.

    Remove the ignition coil.

    Disconnect the high voltage wire.
    Replacement: ignition coil – VW CORRADO (53I). AUTODOC recommends:
    Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.

    Detach the connector from the ignition coil.

    Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
