Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT SEICENTO (187). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your FIAT SEICENTO (187) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – FIAT SEICENTO (187) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT SEICENTO (187)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unstake the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 8Install the wheel.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. FIAT SEICENTO (187)
- Step 9Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 10Lower the car.Step 11Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #32. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 12Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 13Unscrew the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT SEICENTO (187)
- Step 14Remove the wheel.
- Step 15Remove the fastening nut.Step 16Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 17Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 18Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT SEICENTO (187). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 21Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Remove the brake disc. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 24Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 25Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 26Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 27Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 28Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 29Disconnect the ABS sensor.
- Step 30Disconnect the wiring and the brake hose from the bracket on the shock strut. Use a crowbar.
- Step 31Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 32Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 33Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 34Unscrew the fasteners connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 35Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 36Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle.Step 37Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 38Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
- Step 39Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 40Remove the wheel hub from the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 41Place the steering knuckle in the viсe.
- Step 42Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use flat screwdrivers (2 pieces).
- Step 43Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 44Loosen the vice and remove the steering knuckle.
- Step 45Press out the wheel hub bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 46Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 47Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT SEICENTO (187). Professionals recommend:Check to make sure the wheel hub bearing is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. Stop pressing on the surface of the bearing immediately after it has been fitted into its mounting seat.
- Step 48Install the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 49Clean the hub. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 50Install the wheel hub on the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – FIAT SEICENTO (187). Tip from AUTODOC:Make sure that the wheel hub is positioned correctly. Avoid any misalignment.
- Step 51Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
