Replacement: strut mount – SKODA Kushaq (PA1). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
- All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – SKODA Kushaq (PA1). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SKODA Kushaq (PA1)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolt.Step 9Remove the stabilizer rod.Step 10Clean the lower fastener connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 13Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring.
- Step 14Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 15Lower the car.Step 16Open the bonnet.Step 17Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 18Clean the upper fastener of the suspension strut mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #20.6. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:SKODA Kushaq (PA1) – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
- Step 20Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 21Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: strut mount – SKODA Kushaq (PA1). AUTODOC recommends:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 22Compress the spring.
- Step 23Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 24Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a drive socket #20.6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 25Remove the top strut mount.
- Step 26Install a new top shock strut mount.
- Step 27Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a drive socket #20.6. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.Replacement: strut mount – SKODA Kushaq (PA1). Tip:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
- Step 28Decompress the spring.Step 29Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.Step 30Remove the assembled shock strut.
