Replacement: strut mount – Honda CR-V II. Tip from AUTODOC:
The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Please note: all work on the car – Honda CR-V II – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Honda CR-V II
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Remove the cotter pin. Use nippers.
Step 7
Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 9
Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
Step 10
Unscrew the ABS cable holder. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11
Remove the ABS wiring harness bracket.
Step 12
Unscrew the brake hose fastening bracket from the shock strut. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13
Remove the bracket from the shock absorber strut.
Step 14
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16
Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 17
Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
Step 18
Lower the car.
Step 19
Open the bonnet.
Step 20
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 21
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 22
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
AUTODOC recommends:
Honda CR-V II – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
Step 23
Remove the suspension strut.
Step 24
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.
Replacement: strut mount – Honda CR-V II. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
Step 25
Compress the spring.
Step 26
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 27
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 28
Release the coil spring.
Step 29
Remove the top strut mount.
Replacement: strut mount – Honda CR-V II. AUTODOC recommends:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Step 30
Install a new top shock strut mount.
Step 31
Compress the spring.
Step 32
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H7. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 44 Nm torque.
Replacement: strut mount – Honda CR-V II. Tip:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
Step 33
Decompress the spring.
Step 34
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
Step 35
Remove the assembled shock strut.
Step 36
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
Step 37
Screw the top fastening of the shock strut mount.
AUTODOC recommends:
Honda CR-V II – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 38
Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 44 Nm torque.
Step 39
Treat the fasteners of the shock strut mount. Use copper grease.
Step 40
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 41
Close the hood.
Step 42
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 43
Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle.
Step 44
Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces). Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 45
Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #22. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 157 Nm torque.
Step 46
Install the bracket onto the shock absorber strut.
Step 47
Tighten the brake hose fastening bracket to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 48
Install the ABS wiring harness bracket.
Step 49
Tighten the ABS cable holder. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 50
Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
Step 51
Tighten the fastening nut connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 43 nm torque.
Step 52
Install the cotter pin. Use nippers.
Step 53
Treat the shock strut fasteners. Treat the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use copper grease.
Step 54
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 55
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – Honda CR-V II. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 56
Install the wheel.

Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Honda CR-V II
Step 57
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 58
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 108 nm torque.
Step 59
Remove the jacks and chocks.
